Etoile Cuisine et Bar near 7 Seventy: French Fare in Houston, Texas

Philippe Verpiand not only grew up in France, but also spent his youth studying its cuisine at the French Culinary Institute in Avignon. Even before that, he was immersed in the fare of the country as the son of a second-generation butcher. Today, Philippe goes by “Chef Verpiand,” and his skills are on display at Etoile Cuisine et Bar near 7 Seventy.

At the French bistro, Chef Verpiand incorporates seasonal ingredients into his popular dishes. This includes coq au vin, lobster bisque, and foie gras. If you’re looking for a feast, the Cassoulet Toulousain might be the perfect option. This dish consists of a smorgasbord of duck confit, pork shoulder, and beans all scattered with parsley-seasoned bread crumbs. Pair your meal with a glass of white or red wine, or perhaps a glass of champagne, and follow it up with the apple tart. It’s accompanied by ice cream and salted caramel.
